Our UnderX® black fire resistant hoods/balaclava and race underwear made by Ringers are NOT Nomex. Instead, they are made with CarbonX® material which is far superior to Nomex® Balaclavas, Nomex hoods and Nomex underwear garments and other fire resistant / fireproof material in regards to thermal barrier shielding, radiant heat deflection, minimum heat conductivity. CarbonX® also has excellent moisture regain along with minimal moisture retention. When exposed to high heat, the fibers char from the outside in.
