What is the Difference?

Roadster, Hardtop, Standard Top or Convertible Car?

Made in USANote: These replacement seat belts are universal fit and do NOT have electrical wiring, so they cannot be electrically wired to alarms or airbags. Please view our detailed installation instructions and also examine your vehicle to determine if the seat belt is compatible with your application.
Safety tested and approved, sewn, assembled, packaged in the USA.

    Roadster

The photo above shows a roadster (convertible cars that do not have much of, or any back seat). Roadsters include most MG's Triumph, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, some years and models of Corvette and more. These belts are designed to be installed with the retractor unit anchored just below the bottom of the window and behind the shoulder rather than on the floor (recommended when there just isn't enough room near the floor to fit the 4" x 4" x 3" retractor unit). These are universal fit belts, so they are perfect for most roadsters and certain mid to late 1970's Ford Trucks. If you have a roadster or one of the mentioned trucks, then you need to purchase our Roadster (welr-n) seatbelts CLICK HERE for Details or to Buy.
Important: All belts should be fastened to vehicle achorage points provided by the vehicle manufacturer. If your vehicle has never had 3-point seatbelts installed, then before installing these aftermarket seat belts, special retrofitting procedures must be taken.

Choose either bench or bucket seat application. All of our belts work on either the driver or passenger side of your car and are Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) #209 & #302 approved. Price includes 1 seat belt for one seat / passenger.

    Hardtop

The photo above shows a mustang that has a Hardtop which are commonly found with early model Camaro, Falcon, Mustang cars etc. The door-post in a hardtop does  NOT go above the bottom of the window (it stops at the top of the door) as shown above circled in red. What is circled in red is the chrome piece for the back window; it is NOT the door-post. So if your car matches the description above, and you are looking to buy 3-point retractable seat belts, then you have a "hardtop" and you can choose any of the seatbelts below depending on the installation method. (You can see in the "Standard Top" photo shown further below, what it looks like when the door-post goes all the way up to the roof of the car as in all Standard Top cars.)

    Installation Options
    1. You can have the shoulder anchor mounted above the window into the roof. This requires our universal fit standard (welr) seatbelts. Click Here for details.
    Or
    2. You can have the shoulder anchor mounted above the window into the roof AND have a Long Sash Guide so that the shoulder portion of the seat belt is lower closer to your shoulder. This requires our universal fit Long Sash Guide (welr-L) seatbelts. Click Here for details.
    Or
    3. You can have the shoulder anchor mounted just below the bottom of the back window and behind the shoulder. For this you would want to purchase our universal fit Convertible seat belt (i-3207). Click Here for details.

Important: All belts should be fastened to vehicle anchorage points provided by the vehicle manufacturer. If your vehicle has never had 3-point seatbelts installed, then before installing these aftermarket seat belts, special retrofitting procedures must be taken.
All of our belts work on either the driver or passenger side of your car and are Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) #209 & #302 approved.

    Standard Top

Most newer vehicles that are not convertibles are "Standard Top" cars. The red circle in the photo above shows that Standard Top cars have door-posts that go from the frame at the bottom of the car, all the way up to the roof of the car. This is a solid post where the shoulder anchor is attached. If you are looking to buy some 3-point (both lap and over the shoulder) seatbelts that are retractable, and you have a "Standard Top" car as shown above, then you need to purchase our universal fit Standard 3 Point Seat Belt (welr). Click Here for Details or to Buy
