What's the Difference - Duck-Bill vs. Standard Latch & Link Buckle

Duck-Bill
(Photo shows Duckbill buckle lap belt only. Not showing shoulder harness or sub-belt connected)

The Duck-Bill buckle has a duck's head (with bill/beak) shaped end on the latch lever as you can see above. This helps to make it more difficult to unlatch the buckle inadvertently. The duck bill shaped end helps to prevent a strap, cuff etc. from hooking under the lever.

The length tightening bar is integrated into the buckle, so the only option for tightening is pull-down (for larger race car compartments).

Standard Latch & Link
(Photo shows Standard Latch and Link buckle lap belt only. Not showing shoulder harness or sub-belt connected)

The Standard Latch and Link buckle has a smaller buckle foot-print than the Duck-Bill buckle and since the tightening bar is NOT integrated into the buckle like the Duck-Bill, both pull-up (for smaller race car compartments) OR pull-down (larger race car compartments) tightening options are available for the Standard Latch and Link.
